Sri Lanka Food and Architecture Tour, 13-26 May 2012

This tour has been designed with special emphasis on spice, food and tea with hands-on classes and tuition in Sri Lankan cuisine, spices and the perfect cup of tea. Every day promises a food, spice or tea experience.

This tour has also been designed to focus on architecture, especially the work of Geoffrey Bawa. Bawa hotels could be nowhere else and we will be staying in 2 of them.

Portuguese seafood, Indian curries, Dutch spices and a very British cup of tea.- but not just tea- whilst every day includes a tea-related experience this 13 day tour also visits a moonstone mine, a world heritage walled Dutch city, and spends time with the elephants. Make your own Ceylon tea at 6000' - only pick the bud and top two. Board a boat to explore the waters that lead to the cinnamon spice islands. Learn all about traditional Sri Lankan cuisine.

A visit to the fishing village of Welipatanvila, a village rebuilt since the Boxing Day tsunami means fresh fish for lunch. Transport is mostly by private vehicle.

Land Cost NZ$6995 plus airfares - based on no pre-existing medical condition insurance surcharge and twin or double share accommodation- single surcharge $2000
