Paul Harris Fellow

In October 2008 The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International named Mary Taylor as a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.

Gareth Morgan Kiwi Heroes

Mary was recognised as a Kiwi Hero by the Gareth Morgan family Trust for her Sri Lankan work in the war against poverty and disadvantage.

Geoffrey Roberts Award

Auckland food marketing consultant and tour operator, Mary Taylor, won the 2005 prestigious Geoffrey Roberts Award (www.geoffreyrobertsaward.com).

The London-based international British travel award, given in memory of Geoffrey Roberts, the pioneer importer of New World wines into the UK, is made annually to someone who can demonstrate that their travels are likely to make a difference to the worlds of food, drink and/or travel.

Ms Taylor, of Food Matters, Auckland, won the award for her Project Oru 100, a programme being developed to improve conditions for three fishing communities devastated by the Boxing Day tsunami on the south coast of Sri Lanka.

Living Legend Award

In 2007 Mary received the Mayor's Living legend Award for encouraging community involvement in the tsunami relief projects
